Pleasant View

Proposed Wilderness

PleasantviewThe addition of Pleasant View in the Angeles National Forest would provide the only North to South wilderness corridor (along with Silver Mountain and West Fork) in Southern California, stretching from above the alluvial flood plain of the San Gabriel River to the San Andreas Rift Zone along the northern forest border. The only north slope wilderness area in the Angeles, it contains an diverse elevation range, at nearly 4500 feet from high desert to alpine peaks. Recommended by the Forest Service for wilderness, it is a key recovery habitat for the San Gabriel bighorn sheep (a species of concern), a vital watershed for Little Rock Creek reservoir feeding the Antelope Valley, and home to a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail.
