Proposed Wilderness Additions

Agua CalientePortions of these areas are targeted by oil and gas exploration and drilling, making them some of the states most threatened wild areas, as well as endangering two primary watersheds for Santa Barbara and Ventura counties. The geography ranges from steep canyons to gentle slopes to higher elevation plateaus. Matilija provides core habitat for black bears, deer, and the endangered California condor and the threatened California red-legged frog, and houses the Dry Lakes Botanical Area.
