Feather FallsFeather Falls

Proposed Wilderness Area

This area is home to the 640-foot Feather Falls waterfall, the 6th highest waterfall in the United States, as well as the National Scenic Trail that attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world to see the falls. Feather Falls and Bald Rock Dome are sacred to local Indians; the Strawberry Valley Maidu Tribe supports the designation. This area is Butte County’s only wilderness-quality land and would be the County’s first designated Wilderness, complementing the deep, rugged canyon of the first designated Wild and Scenic River in California (1968), the Middle Fork Feather River.
