Proposed Wilderness Additions

Each of these areas forms the major watershed for the Upper Santa Ynez River, the primary water supply for many in Santa Barbara County. These proposed wilderness areas are also adjacent to the Upper Santa Ynez Recreation Area, where hundreds of thousands of visitors each year hike, hunt, fish, or ride horses, often recreating out into the surrounding additions. The numerous creeks in this area contain many sensitive species and the riparian canopies provide habitat for an incredibly rich and diverse bird population.
