Deep Creek

Proposed Wild and Scenic River

Deep CreekDeep Creek is a California state wild trout stream, the only wild trout stream in the forest, and one of few in Southern California. It also has historical significance as a major entry point from the Mojave Desert into the San Bernardino Mountains for the Vanyume Serrano Indians. There are many archaeological sites, and a portion of the Pacific Crest Trail runs through this area. Several species of concern depend on this area, including the endangered Arroyo Toad and Chub hybrid, the threatened California red-legged frog, and the California Spotted Owl.
