Caples Creek

Proposed Wilderness Area

Caples CreekCache Creek Canyon is a geologic wonder, with sheer cliffs, faults, twisted rock, and a massive landslide that still lingers from the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, which actually dammed the creek temporarily. The creek is extremely popular with whitewater boaters, especially since it is one of the closest whitewater streams to both the Bay Area and Sacramento. The stream supports the second largest wintering bald eagle population in California.
