For the past two years, their support has extended to the California Wild Heritage Campaign. Amelia Ceja’s involvement has been a very valuable asset to the Campaign. Amelia has written letters to the editors of various newspapers on behalf of California’s wild places, particularly in the North Coast. Most recently, Amelia and Derek Chernow, the Campaign’s Communications Director, were able to discuss what originally attracted Ceja Vineyards to our Campaign and how Amelia sees conservation and her business as being interconnected. Why did you join CWHC? Ceja Vineyards joined the CWHC because we feel we have an obligation to protect the open spaces for future generations to enjoy. As a boutique winery that farms the land as a source of nourishment (our exceptional wines!), we care deeply about California’s heritage as place where businesses and the environment have a symbiotic and healthy relationship. What is the focus of your business? To create world class wines in accord with the land while promoting social, environmental, and political justice. How does your focus relate to nature/the environment? By utilizing sustainable farming practices that minimize the impact to the environment. And by supporting organizations such as yours! What drew you to the Campaign? Your honest approach and commitment to preserving California’s wilderness and wild rivers. Why should businesses care about the environment? Because it’s the only one we have! If the environment is irreversibly damaged not only have we lost the greatest gift from Mother Nature, we will be doomed too! Where can our activists find you? We can be found in the Carneros district in the southernmost boundary of our beautiful Napa Valley. Amongst our gorgeous Chardonnay vineyard lies our charming tasting room and main office. Tastings are by appointment only so we invite your activists to give us a ring! Word Association: What instantly comes to mind when you hear the word wilderness? Yosemite!
